The concept is a continuation of the paleolithic concept of Mother Earth, updated with the introduction of the male aspect and its bastardization in male dominated cultures.
- Worship: The Young and Dying God involved the birth of a young man in conjunction with the beginning of planting season. He would ceremonially age with the year, dying at the beginning of the next year's planting season only to be replaced with an identical Young and Dying God.
- Popularity: The Young and Dying God was common throughout Europe and the Mediterranean world. Malduz, Osiris, Adonis, and in Britain Cernunnos and Belatacudros were all representations of the male fertility aspect.
