Nothing is known of Saffaracus' childhood apart from the fact that he chose the priesthood.
Adulthood[]
Accepting and coming to terms with the fact that he was homosexual, Saffaracus announced it openly at council convened to address him in 557. For his complicity in the devil's work he fully expected to be excommunicated, cast away from the chance at heaven. Instead, and at Gregory of Tours' suggestion, he was placed in a monastery on the condition that he never leave and never accept any promotion or transfer that might put him once again in contact with the public. This was done to protect the reputation of the church.
