The hand axe was a tool used by people of the Age of Ice and the Age of Obsidian. Whether kept in the hand or attached to a shaft. It had multiple purposes:
- 1. Preparing meat for consumption
- 2. Digging for tubers, animals, and water
- 3. Chopping wood and removing tree bark
- 4. Hunting tool
- 5. As a source for flake tools
