Born to Lleudun, King of Din Peledyr, Cynan was the natural choice to follow his father as king. He is known to have been unusually sensitive, doting on his sister.

As was expected, Cynan took up the sword when he came of age, fighting alongside his father in the endless number of battles that followed Arthur's death. When his sister Thynoy was raped and turned up pregnant he helped her avoid the death sentence her father had given her and escape to Fib.

When one of Lleudun's men, Ymellyrn, usurped the throne, Cynan wisely disappeared. He reemerged in Cornwall where, like his nephew, he took up holy orders.

A kindly soul who understood the balance between honesty and practicality, Cynan took the opportunity of his father's murder to break his path. There he allowed his love of others to rule his days.
