King Arthur was a significant ruler of Cumberland in the years around 500. His exploits against important rulers like Ceredig, Drust, and Caw made him the most famous king in Britain.

Arthur was born to Uthr, King of the Pecse. He spent most of his childhood playing with other boys and learning to hunt with his father. It wasn't long before he won at all the games and was respected by his peers for his strength, speed, and courage. When his father was murdered in 476, Arthur fled, arriving at the court of Einion on Môn in 478.

Arthur spent several years with Einion, proving himself from the start as a cunning and fearless warrior. During these years he became a favorite of his king. He was solely responsible for the hunt of the Cat of Pulag.

Arthur established his own teulu at the age of eighteen, ruling from an old Roman fortress that would later be names Caermalleator or "Castle of the Bear". At the age of twenty-one he killed Gwrwst in battle. Shortly thereafter he took on the title of Gwledig.

A hard young man with the weight of a kingdom on his shoulders and the physical and mental talents to fulfill a special destiny, Arthur is at times arrogant about his skills and that arrogance has a tendency to get he and his men in trouble.

As a successful chieftain, Arthur took on a number of adversaries during his career, among them were Ceredig and Gwrwst.
